Important for 2016

The OIJGC-Illinois District will make an important format change beginning with the 2016 Midwest Qualifier in Decatur, Illinois.  This change will affect the Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18 year old age divisions only.  All other divisions will continue with the traditional format of a practice round on Monday, June 13, followed by two rounds of stroke play on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14 & 15.

The oldest boys and girls will follow the traditional format with this major change.  A thirty-six hole cut will occur after the Wednesday round, and those making the cut will play an additional 18 holes on Thursday, making this a 54 hole event.  The Wednesday cut line for the boys  will be the low 20 scores plus ties, and any player within 10 strokes of the 36 hole qualifying score of 156, making the cut score 166.  For the girls, the cut line will be the low 15 scores plus ties, and any player within 10 strokes of the 36 hole qualifying score of 170, making the cut score 180.

*** NEW 2016 ***  The girls 15-18 Year old division has AJGA/PBE recognition for 2016.  Boys 16-18 division may get recognized if minimum number of entries is reached.

The Decatur Conference Center Hotel is working with the tournament to allow late check-outs on Wednesday, as well as guaranteed extensions for those making the cut.

This change is being made to promote the Optimist as a top quality tournament encouraging a larger and stronger field.  Inquiries may be directed to:
