Relay of space.
This house is my parental house.
38 years ago, young parent would see the future in the framework that stand up on the flattend mulberry field. The memories dwell even in the scar of pillars. The house triggers to introvert the people toward own consciousness.
But is renovation breaks off the bond between past and present, the conscious lose its destination and heart and soul of my elder parent fades, doesn’t it.
The house designed by someone’s hand. I was thinking that I can express strong auterist in the renovation by treating the past objectively. And I’ve spent about eight years in between thought for resident and architect’s ambitious.
The fact that my parents getting older hastened me, I started the renovation construction without any reliable answer.When I thought the my parental house as architecture for the first time was after the familiar walls and ceilings fell down and abstractness of frameworks appeared. Moreover, wonderfully, I felt this house was designed by myself. The present is an enormous accumulation of someone’s activities.
We, who live today, are merely succeeding it. I doubted about my plans which was studied for a long time, improvised and adjust the detail into the reality of site. It gradually makes me, who is as a designer more relative. Opinion of my parent and staff, techniques of carpenter old woods that rolling on the site and etc are going to mix themselves up and become hotchpotch. The traces are seen off and on like well-used model for study, the existing part and renovation part are getting vague. The completion of this house was a year and half ago, but the house looks like under construction yet. The framework that runs toward vertical and horizontal leads people’s consciousness to many directions. Exposed pillar, beam and long strip footing look like waiting for someone adds something on them.I felt the time flows away to somewhere.
The framework, that my parent puts the future layer of meaning into it 38 years ago, was still moving forward slowly. What is changing and what is not.In the center of this house, the ground, the sky, the garden which connecting spaces, the plant, the neighbor and the cityscape are co-existing. The dawn to the dusk, the light goes around inside of the house for a day.I think if this endless eternity is being in the center of daily life, the people’s consciousness are still capable to spread broader and broader.
