OUR PURPOSE

The Eagle's Eye Vision:
To Know and Be Known

Every human has a desire to know and be known. We were meant to live in relationship—in fellowship—with one another. And in our most vulnerable moments, we know that we yearn for this with our entire soul.

What does this have to do with journalism? What role does journalism play in the living out of this truth?

At its core, journalism is really simple. It is the acquiring and transcribing of knowledge. But not just any knowledge. It is knowledge that is relevant to people.

The Eagle's Eye goal is to document the human experience.

  • To ask the right in-depth questions that get gut-wrenching answers.
  • To care about the emotion behind the answers, because we care about the person we are interviewing.
  • To do background research on a person so that we completely know them.
  • To caringly, creatively and descriptively interweave these facts and emotions and experiences in such a way that when you read our articles, they are beautiful paintings.
  • Our job is to make the students on this campus feel known—to understand the plight of every human that experiences Rialto and attempts to create an identity as a confused teenager.
  • Our job is to help students who have been ignorant to know—to be enlightened to experiences they may never go through themselves.
