ECE661: Artificial Neural Network

Artificial Neural Network is a branch of Artificial Intelligence concerned with simulating neurons (cells in the brain responsible for learning) and applying them to perform learning tasks and representing knowledge. Through learning, machines are able to perform complex tasks not achievable (or too complex to be implemented) using conventional techniques.

This course covers:
  • An overview of Artificial Intelligence
  • Fundamentals of MATLAB
  • An overview of the Human Brain & the concept of Learning
  • Single Layer Perceptrons (SLP)
  • Multi-Layer Perceptrons (MLP) as an extension of the SLP.
  • The Backpropagation Algorithm
  • MLP for Pattern Classification
  • MLP for Function Approximation (Forecasting)
  • The Radial Basis Function Neural Network (will be replaced with Deep Learning soon).
