Where I Come From

Where I Come From

Where I come from
Eating and sleeping are sports
Family dinners are the main event
And kids play in homemade forts

Where I come from Football is king
Dogs and cats don’t get along
And birds, not idols sing
Where I come from

Days are long and hot
Ice is shaped like cubes
And friends are real
Facebook is not

Where I come from
Families live on blocks
There are lot of trees and lakes
And we learn to skip small rocks

Where I come from
Manners and grace abound
Smile and handshakes
All around

Where I come from
We work, rest and play
We reflect, sleep and pray
We cherish the slowest day

Where I come from
The sun is blazing hot
The kettle is black
And so is the pot

Where I come from
We are all trying to make it
Though some of us
Just fake it

Where I come from
Less is less
And more is more
Some are rich and some are poor

Where I come from
Is south of the MDL
We have mountains and beaches
And farms with bales

Where I come from
There is room for you
Should I reserve
A table for two?
