My Legacy

My legacy is not
Like anything you've ever heard of

My legacy is not
Like anything you can write down

My legacy is not
To be contained in place or time

My legacy is not
Something you trade for a dime

My legacy is sacred
My legacy is me
My legacy is greatness
My legacy lives and breathes

You can't sell it on E-Bay
You can't describe it with She Say
You can't buy it on payday
You can't just Love it on V-Day

What you leave behind
Is your business not mine

But My Legacy is truth
My legacy is a joyful youth

My legacy is grace
My legacy shall leave a trace

My generations will follow me
Leading the way is their destiny
Stick around
And you will see

My legacy is not
Like anything you've ever heard of
My legacy is not like anything
You've ever seen or dreamed

My legacy is not
All the labels you put upon me
My legacy is not
Like you or you or you

My legacy is me
My legacy is glee
My legacy is grand
And it can't be mirrord by any man

My legacy is the footprint of my life
The evident of my sacrifice
The Blueprint to my greatness
The resting place of my lateness

When I take that final breath
When I walk that final mile
When I crack that one last smile
My legacy shall last, more than a little while

My legacy, your legacy
The rear view mirror, the evening shadow
The index and the rolodex
Of the life we live, in peace and battle

May your legacy be one to remember
With love and honor
Passion and fun
For all the days to come
