About Me

Hello, my name is Monica Barrios. I am a graduate student at California State University Northridge, CSUN. I Currently have the pleasure of working at CSUN as a tutor and a part time instructor at the Intensive English Program. One of the reasons why I love this job is because I get to meet people from diverse cultures and points of view. In addition, I work as a tutor for the No Child Left Behind program with elementary school children. I also enjoy this job because the children I work with are always full of energy and enthusiasm. In the not too distant future, I would like to work as a full time elementary school teacher or as an ESL teacher at an adult school. However, before I can do any of that, first I must be fully qualified to teach. Therefore, I must finish earning my Master’s Degree in Linguistics as well as my teaching credentials.

Whenever I have leisure time, aside from being drawn by the wonderful world of the internet, I usually spend it with my husband watching movies or driving around to see new places. I also enjoy baking all kinds of sweets such as cupcakes, brownies, cookies and more. Furthermore, I try to engage myself in arts and crafts and color photography.

Some of my plans for the future include writing children’s books and traveling all over the world, especially to Europe, Japan, Brazil and all over Mexico (especially Cancun).
