Guest Editor: Calin Cascaval (Qualcomm) Submissions due: June 20, 2014 -> July 11, 2014 (Deadline Extended) Publication date: Jan-Feb 2015 Personal computing is going mobile and applications are changing to adapt to take advantage of new opportunities offered by permanent availability and connectivity. Mobile devices are a significant departure from traditional computing. On one hand, they are very personal, always on, always connected, creating an opportunity for new areas of applications and interaction. On the other hand, even though the computational power of these devices has been increasing by leaps and bounds, mobile systems continue to be resource constrained, in particular when considering energy aspects (power, energy, and thermal) and storage (memory and flash). A flood of personal data is emerging from the multitude of sensors available on mobile devices, which drives the need to consider mobile devices as a component of a larger compute fabric, with mobile devices interacting with a cloud based infrastructure through a hierachy of wireless and network access points. We solicit submissions on topics related to the broad area of mobile systems. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
Submission procedure: Log onto IEEE CS Manuscript Central ( https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/micro-cs) and submit your manuscript. Please direct questions to the IEEE Micro magazine assistant (microma@computer.org). For the manuscript submission, acceptable file formats include Microsoft Word and PDF. Manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words including references, with each averagesize figure counting as 150 words toward this limit. Please include all figures and tables, as well as a cover page with author contact information (name, postal address, phone, fax, and email address) and a 200word abstract. Submitted manuscripts must not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere, and all manuscripts must be cleared for publication. All previously published papers must have at least 30% new content compared to any conference (or other) publication. Accepted articles will be edited for structure, style, clarity, and readability. For more information, please visit the IEEE Micro Author Center (http://www2.computer.org/portal/web/peerreviewmagazines/acmicro) Important dates:
