ps200 - The Poor Student

NEXT RUNNING 6th Jan 2018

[giggle] This ride can be very variable in weather conditions - for a review of previous conditions, peruse the latter pages of 2014 PS200 [/giggle]

(NB-1: If you're planning on entering post-Xmas excess, please enter/ping by e-mail first - paper entries between Xmas/New Year are OK if delivered, but there may not be time to return stuff...)

The Poor Student is running again this year. The ride will be "same as, same as", keeping alive the spirit of minimal mangement and maximum enjoyment.

Back to clockwise this year, so fast run out, and all the pain on the way back...

It will continue to start from the Peartree Park and Ride carpark, on the North side of Oxford.

Entries can be made via paper forms or online, using the Audax UK online entry system - this is for members only, but if you are a member you can enter quickly and easily and at a discount.

NB: Entries do not require SAEs, unless you want validated brevet card returned - Route details are accessible below, and I will provide a return SAE (to me) for you to send the brevet back post-ride. As long as your entry has an e-mail address, I will simply e-mail the validation time and number back to you...

Late/On-The-Day Entries

Late entries are possible by arrangement only. If you wish to enter less than two weeks before the event, please send an email to check that there is space first. On-The-Day entries are not a good idea for this event - a wet and windy carpark is not the place for paperwork.

Route

The route is a rough triangle running from Oxford to Malmesbury to Chipping Campden and back to Oxford. The run out to Malmesbury is quite flat and quite fast.
As you head north-ish from Malmesbury we come to the Cotswolds and the route gets hilly after Cirencester. The hills continue most of the way to Chipping Campden but after Chipping Campden, the terrain is gently rolling and more downhill than up. This is a really good ride through some lovely English countryside with views to match the hills.

The controls are Malmesbury and Chipping Campden which both have good cafes and a choice of shops. There are are also shops at Shrivenham on the way to Malmesbury and Shipton-under-Wychwood on the way back to Oxford. The calendar page is here and from there you can print an entry form or enter online.

And obviously v.v for the Widdershins route ;-)
