The 1st International Conference on Maritime Autonomous Surface Ship (ICMASS 2018) is the first international conference which presents cutting edge works on autonomous ships to both academic and industry researchers. ICMASS addresses current research and academic activities focused on the development of Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) technology and knowledge from all around the world. This conference is arranged as a part of the International Network for Autonomous Ship (INAS – http://www.autonomous-ship.org) co-operation. This will be a yearly conference, where the second is planned for Trondheim, Norway, November 2019.

The conference will facilitate high-level interaction and information exchange among MASS researchers and industrial developers. It will provide an interactive forum for discussion on recent and ongoing developments, key issues and challenges, and practices related to innovative applications in MASS systems. Researchers and practitioners from all over the world, from academia, industry, and authorities are invited to present their perspectives. In addition to regular scientific and technical papers, industrial practice reports are welcome from practitioners.

ICMASS2018 will be held at Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), Busan, Republic of Korea on November 8-9, 2018. ICMASS 2018 provides an opportunity networking event among researchers, industries and academics around the world.

We invite your contributions concerning maritime autonomous surface ship technology and knowledge from both academic and industrial perspectives. Papers will be short and up to two pages in length. The two page limit includes title, text, figures and tables, but not references. Accepted papers will be presented orally or as posters according to review and/or preference.


Accepted papers will be published in the ICMASS Proceedings. Also, authors of selected high quality papers will be invited to provide a full length paper for peer review and publication in a special edition of an international journal. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Technology developments for MASS
  • Test procedures and acceptance criteria for MASS
  • Innovative applications for MASS
  • Shore and port infrastructure supporting MASS
  • E-navigation support for MASS
  • National and international regulatory developments for MASS
  • Towards standard MASS testbed principles and procedures


IMPORTANT DATES

  • August 31, 2018:

You are required to send an abstract (≤ 200 words, excluding author’s name, affiliation, address, telephone number, email address, title of paper, and 5 key words) by this date. The abstract shall be submitted to leeki@kmou.ac.kr.

  • September 10, 2018:

Acceptance notifications will be emailed by this date. If your paper is accepted, you have the opportunity to deliver a 20-minute presentation or prepare a poster.

  • September 30, 2018:

Camera ready final papers (≤ 2 pages excluding references) must be submitted by this date.

  • November 8-9, 2018:

ICMASS 2018 at Busan Exhibition and Convention Center (BEXCO), Busan, Republic of Korea.
