There are lots of ways to study, practice and improve your Japanese language skills. One new way, presented by the Fukui Municipal Office, is the Shaberiba!

What is a しゃべり場shaberiba)

It's a free-style Japanese lesson/ marketplace. The goal is to bring together many groups of people to learn and teach Japanese. But also to help Japanese Language Learners with various aspects of life in Fukui. Volunteer Japanese teachers, interpreters and sometimes staff of the Fukui Municipal Office are available to help in different ways!

How can I participate?

It’s FREE!No need to apply for it beforehand! Like any marketplace, come and go as you please. Anyone can feel free to drop in anytime! But, it is a great idea to bring something you want to study, bring your questions, your textbooks, or if there is something special you want to study, let the volunteers know and they can prepare for the next marketplace.

Where does it take place?
The Shaberiba is at the International Affairs Office. This is one of the buildings on the northeast corner of the City Hall Grounds. The building is called ゛福井市役所分館゛ This is the branch office of the "Citizen’s Collaboration and International Affairs Division"

Have a look at the map. That is the best way to understand. The yellow mark is the city hall. The blue mark is where the event happens.

The little shop is between the city hall and the big mote around the prefectural office. When you go in, just say you are there for the shaberiba (or like me, point at the curtain). Then go through to the back room.
