About the organizer:
Ecole Mohammadia d'Ingénieurs (EMI)

The Ecole Mohammadia d’Ingénieurs (EMI) is the oldest and one of the most prestigious engineering schools in Morocco. The EMI is part of the Mohammed V Rabat-Agdal University. The School was founded the 24th of October, 1959 by His Majesty the late King Mohammed V. The first class graduated from EMI in 1964 to respond to the nation’s needs in qualified engineers in the areas of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Mining Engineering. In 1970 the training at EMI was restructured by offering more diverse curricula and by granting an Engineer of State Diploma. The graduates were well trained to master modern technologies and destined to play a leading role in developing the national industry.

In 1975, a large program was started to train young Moroccan faculty members for the School. Some of EMI’s best graduates along with selected Moroccan graduates from foreign engineering schools were hired as faculty members and sent to leading universities throughout the world to prepare PhD degrees in various engineering fields. In 1983 the EMI started a Graduate Program in applied sciences that spurred the development of applied scientific research in various fields of engineering in Morocco.

The EMI has lot of relations with the industry – (An example is the R&D center created by STMicroelectronics in the EMI's campus in September 2001. The activity of this center mainly focuses on the development of integrated circuits (System-on-Chips) for growing digital consumer applications such as the Digital TV, DVD players, digital still cameras. Its activity also includes application software development for the set top box and mobile communication.
