Global warming is a major global catastrophe, and that word should strike fear alongside words such as tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis and earthquakes.
Numerous movies have been made to heighten awareness of global warming, but unfortunately many people seem to have missed the message that such movies tried to portray. They see such movies as mere entertainment.
Because of warming trends which seem to be on the uptrend, many scientific environmental groups have upped their efforts to drum home the message that we all need to wake up and face some harsh realities, or it will be end of life that we all know.
Some of the causes of global warming are naturally occuring. But many causes of global waming are man-made. These include deforestation, fuel emissions from vehicles, industrial air pollution and the use of dangerous chemicals such as CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons). Many products that we use can cause global warming to occur in ways that we have not really thought of before. For instance the number of hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes are on the increase, and the global tectonic plates are shifting more than ever.
At first glance these events seem to be unrelated, but it has been scientifically proven that they are all co-related in one way or the other because we have damaged earth's atmosphere. The years of chasing what our governments called "economic developments" have all of us unwittingly releasing dangerous chemicals which are fast building up in the upper section of the atmosphere.
This build up is also known as the "greenhouse effect". The greenhouse effect allows unbeneficial sun’s rays to penetrate the upper atmosphere and reach the earth. When this happens the entire earth’s weather starts acting strangely.
It is this unusual weather patterns which bring an increase in natural disasters in our lives. Never forget that any major disruptions in the environment can bring about the annihilation of entire species of life.
Therefore, we need to think carefully about the role we play in global warming. By fully understanding this role we can hopefully create ways to stop the escalation of global warming and the destruction of our planet.
