Solar Thermal Water Heating

Optimize the energy with Solar Thermal energy.

Water heating accounts for about 19% of your home's energy use. Reducing your hot water fuel use and employing energy saving strategies by integrating a solar thermal water heating system for your home or pool can help reduce your monthly water heating energy consumption/utility bills. Domestic hot water heating is the most common use for a solar thermal hot water system. Situation's where copious amounts of domestic hot water are going to stored like 80+ gallons for use are prime candidate's for hot water solar thermal system's, large and small Home's, Hotels, Motels, Dormitories, Correctional Facilities, Laundromats, Swimming Pools, Hot Tubs, Rec. Centers, etc. Solar thermal energy system are relatively easy to integrate into low temperature hydronic heating system's, water thermal storage tanks are used to store solar thermal energy for use during the heating periods. For space heating around here they can really only add supplemental heat to the system on average unless you really design a new home around utilizing solar thermal for space heating which would require large storage system's and panel array's. Solar thermal energy produced buy the sun is plentiful and is truly a renewable source of energy. Advanced research and product development has made it a more viable and efficient source for harvesting energy produced by the sun. Evacuated tube solar thermal collector's are more suited for cold climate application and location's that could receive higher snow fall rates in the winter months like the rocky mountain's, they have a 360 degree aperture area which allows it to absorb solar energy that's reflective off the snow even. Evacuated tube solar thermal collector's are more efficient at lower ambient outdoor temperatures then flat plate collector's and just barely less efficient at really high ambient outdoor temperature's but at that point it doesn't really make a difference. The life span of evacuated tube collectors run from 30-50+ year's, evacuated tube collectors are three to five times more effective at capturing solar power than photovoltaic (PV) system's. The evacuated U tube style collectors provide unmatched performance and long term durability and lower maintenance cost then some other types of evacuated tube and flat plate design's especially in a climate like the rocky mountain's. Flat plate collectors can still be utilized for certain application like pool heating during the summer months.
