HYAA 2017 Girls Lacrosse Program Overview

HYAA will offer 3 girls teams for the Spring 2017 Season as well as our K-2nd Clinic. Please read the breakdown of the offerings below:

3rd-8th grade teams – Practice begins mid-March, weather permitting. The program will continue through the month of May.

Practice is from 5:30-7pm Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games and Round Robins vs. neighboring towns on Thursdays and most Saturdays in April and May.

We will offer 3 competitive girls teams for the Spring 2017 Season; a 3rd/4th grade team, one 5th/6th grade team, and one 7th/8th grade team. All 3 teams will compete against other towns, with mandatory attendance at practices and games. NO PLAYING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!!

** Note on Grade 3/4 teams: The 3/4 playing experience is truly an intro to the game of girls’ lacrosse. The girls play 7vs7 on a shortened field. The officials are very supportive of this age level and do a lot of teaching while they officiate.  It is a wonderful way for the girls to learn how the game is played in an unintimidating setting.

HYAA Girls Lax is a member of the CLL (Coastal Lacrosse League).

K-2nd Instructional Skills Clinic –SIX WEEKS 9:30-11:00 am Sunday mornings - April 23rd thru June 11th (no clinic Mother’s Day or Easter)

This year we will continue to offer the girls K-2nd Instructional skills Clinic on Sunday mornings. The clinic is run by HHS Head Coach Regan Teti and her current HS players.  For the past 4 years we have had overwhelming success and it has proven to be a fun way for the girls to learn the fundamentals of the sport.

Required equipment for Competitive Teams and K-2nd Instructional Skills Clinic: Stick, Goggles, and a molded mouth guard. Please email Coach Regan for any questions about equipment.  The younger players will likely need either a junior stick or to have a regular sized stick cut to the right size.

The clinic participants will receive a reversible and a lacrosse ball.
