This paper addresses the effect of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling on the magnetization dynamics of ultrathin (~ 1 nm) magnetic nanostructures. It shows that in the presence of the Rashba spin-orbit coupling, the spin torque arising from electric currents in magnetic nanostructures is qualitatively modified, which in turn may changes the magnetization dynamics drastically. As a particular example, it was demonstrated that the current-driven magnetic domain wall may propagate in the direction opposite to the electron flow direction whereas conventional spin torque theories (without consideration on the Rashba spin-orbit coupling) predict the the domain wall propagation along the electron flow direction.
