Fulbright - World Bank Workshop

Workshop on “Institutions, Inequality, Climate Change, and Migration”

organized by

Fulbright University Vietnam

and

The World Bank

Inequality and climate change are serious problems that human-beings are facing, and understanding the causes and consequences of these issues is of great importance. Migration, on the one hand, helps redistribute the labor force and improve quality of life of many migrants. On the other hand, migration is associated with problems such as unemployment and increased pressure on housing and natural resources. Institutions are important for economic development, and this has been well documented. But institutional quality varies across nations. Does this matter for migration, climate change, and inequality within a country and across countries?

The aim of this two-day workshop is to provide a forum for academic researchers, practitioners, and policy makers to present and discuss ongoing research on the interaction between institutions, inequality, climate change, and migration as well as public policies related to these issues, especially the policies reducing inequality and mitigating negative effects of climate change. The workshop will take place at Fulbright University Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh city, on March 25-26, 2024. There will be keynote lectures delivered by
