Mission: Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities is the area's oldest mentoring organization. We develop and nurture one-to-one friendships between children and adults. These relationships have a lasting, positive impact on Little Brothers and Sisters. Our mission is to enrich young people's lives through one-to-one friendships. • Community-based Mentoring: This program connects adults and children who want a mentoring relationship with flexibility. Matches meet two to four times a month at the locations of their choice. • School-based Mentoring: Volunteers meet their Little Brother or Sister at school once a week during the school year, with BBBS-supervised activities during the summer. • Mentoring Children of Prisoners (MCOP): Big Brothers and Sisters receive special training to serve as a mentor to a child with an incarcerated parent. MCTC students usually volunteer as a Big Brother or Big Sister for 1 hour a week, or 2-4 hours a month. The volunteer position with BBBS is for 12 months, in order to significantly develop a relationship with the children students mentor.
