posted May 7, 2014, 9:27 PM by Scott Jenkins   [ updated May 7, 2014, 9:29 PM ]

Dear HCR Homeowners,

Are you concerned about fire coming into your Community?

There will be an educational fire safety session at the Christopher-Kohls fire station in Christopher Creek on Saturday, May 24th from 9-10AM.  Sam Seay will be the leader.  He is a fire safety grant writer and public information safety person for the C-K area.

The session is sponsored by CCHA and chaired by Chuck Schmitt. Sam will address the issues below as well as your specific questions.

Please spread the word among your members.  Let’s help ourselves remain fire-free!

What You and Your Neighbors Should be Doing on You Properties to Avert a Disaster this Fire Season

1.  All those small trees on your lot make a great ladder.  Huh?  A ladder?

2.  Who stores their firewood on or under their deck?  Just askin'.

3.  How is that spark arrestor on your chimney top?  Sparkin'?

4.  My neighbor is never around, but the leaves and needles sure are. What can I do?

5.  What's over your roof?  An ignition system?  Not good!

6.  Do the pine needles on my roof provide good insulation during the winter?

7.  The top five things you can do to make your cabin/house safer if a fire comes through.

8.  Want someone to come and evaluate your property?

9.  I'm too old to clean up my place.  Who can you recommend?

10.  Have you talked to your homeowners insurance company lately about fire coverage?  Some new issues.
