HSVOAD had four representatives on the 2:00 PM panel at the Third Annual Hawaii Conference on Language Access on Thursday, Augsut 26, 2010 at the East-West Center. Maria Lutz (ARC), Rich Melendez (AUW 211), Rona Fukumoto (Catholic Charities) and Kevin Bogan (ARRL ARES) discussed unmet needs and the Long Term Recovery Committe, volunteers, Disaster Communications and more. Our own Marsha Tamura (Citizen Corps) was MC for the panel discussion. The take-home message was that we all need to do more to communicate better with those recipients of our servIces who have limited English proficiency (LEP). Check out the OLA website here.
