4th Grade Coordinators
The 4th Grade Committee will develop and execute creative ways to raise money for the following year's 5th grade Outdoor Education. This includes organizing the Spaghetti Dinner to be held in November in conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair. The committee may also choose to organize additional events such as family dinner night or family fun events.
4th Grade Advisor/Past Chair: Ryan Cunningham
Assist the current 4th grade committee with the planning of spaghetti dinner and other fundraising ideas.
5th Grade Coordinators
The 5th Grade Committee will coordinate 5th grade activities including but not limited to designing and executing the students' t-shirts, the spring picnic, an end-of-year video, and coordinating the selection of the 5th grade picture for the yearbooks. The 5th grade picnic will take place on May 27, 2020.
Chair: Jessica Jecmen
The Book Fair Committee Chair(s) will coordinate our annual Scholastic Book Fair in November. This important and popular event earns Scholastic dollars that replenish the Harrison Street School individual classroom libraries as well the school library. The Chairs will plan and execute the Book Fair including coordinating volunteer's schedule, working with teachers, librarian, students, and selected book fair vendor to promote the Book Fair and the love of reading.
Chair: Robyn Blake
The Box Tops Committee Chair coordinates and promotes the collection, sorting and redeeming of Box Tops for the school throughout the year. The Box Tops Committee Chair may also be asked to assist in additional rewards programs as needed. The Chair will also promote and encourage the use of the new Box Top App.
Breakfast with Books
The Breakfast with Books Committee Chair(s) assist in organizing this popular program offered to Harrison Street School third, fourth, and fifth graders. The purpose of the program is to promote the love and enjoyment of reading by providing an opportunity for students to share interesting books they have read with other students. Mrs. Rusk organizes this program and teams up with the PTO to provide facilitators, muffins, milk and/or juice during the recurring events throughout the year.
Parent facilitators are needed for small book discussion groups that meet once a month before school. Volunteers are also needed to provide muffins and serve refreshments.
Family Dinner Nights
The Family Dinner Night Committee Chair(s) is responsible for coordinating and promoting a variety of dining fundraisers throughout the school year. These fun and exciting events offer Harrison Street School friends and families an opportunity to raise funds for the school while enjoying an evening out without cooking!
The Fun Fair Committee Chair(s) coordinate the annual Fun Fair held in October at Harrison Street School. This popular event is our most attended fundraiser! Responsibilities include coordinating this event alongside the designated sub-committee chairs.
Fun Fair Tickets
Chair: Stephanie Wilson
The Fun Fair Ticket Committee Chair is a GREAT work from home opportunity! This chair is responsible for coordinating the pre-sale of the Fun Fair tickets and managing ticket inventory and distribution as needed.
Fun Fair Children's Raffle
The Fun Fair Children's Raffle Chair is repsonsible for collecting items for the raffle, organizing and setting up the items, and supervising the raffle.
Ozzie's Reading Club
Chair: Erin Wynn
Ozzie's Reading Club is an eight-week reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars. The program is open to children in grades K-8; however, to participate, a student's school must be a member of the Ozzie's Reading Club program.
Ozzie's Reading Club tracks the progress of a student's reading around the bases of a baseball diamond with the three bases and home plate representing two weeks worth of reading. Each teacher may determine his or her own reading requirements for each base. Students completing the program's requirements "hit a home run" and earn a free ticket to an April or May Cougars game designated by their school. Other rewards may include a bookmark, a voucher for a hot dog and soda as well as an official Ozzie Reading Club drawstring bag. You can learn more about Ozzie's Reading Club on their website.
Room Parent Coordinator
Chair: Kristin Bobeczko
The Room Parent Coodinator Committee Chair is responsible for creating the room coordinator Signup Genius, assisting in room party fee distribution and management and hosting an introductory meeting for the room parents during the fall.
Room Parents coordinate and run the 2 parties (Halloween & Winter) in your child’s classroom, and help coordinate other PTO needs from classrooms (i.e. pictures for yearbook, Fun Fair games).

School Supply Kits
Chair: Tiffany Cronin
The School Supply Kits are a great way to save time by providing everything your student needs to start the year off right! The School Supply Kit Committee Chair works with our vendor and Harrison Street School to order and organize the kits so that they arrive at the start of the school year.
The Silent Auction Committee Chair(s) is responsible for organizing and executing the Silent Auction. Duties include but not limited to donation solicitation (among the community, parents and staff), collecting, managing and organizing donations and creating the advertisement booklet distributed the week of the Auction.
Square 1 Art
Chair: Regye Cane
The Square 1 Art Committee Chair is responsible for organizing this one time fundraiser that will donate up to 38% of its proceeds back to our school! The Committee Chair will assist in promoting this event and work with the supplier (Square 1 Art) to collect art as well as payments if needed so that the student's artwork can be turned into a variety of keepsakes. Square 1 will provide all the tools needed to make this fundraiser a success.
The Sports Day Committee Chair(s) coordinate our annual Sports Day held on the last day of school. This exciting event consists of a variety of indoor and outdoor activites designed to encourage movement and teamwork among the students at Harrison Street School.
Trivia Night / Parents Night Out
The Trivia Night Committee Chair will organize this exciting, annual fundraiser held in February. This Parents Night Out event features trivia questions, raffles, silent auction and more. The Chair is responsible for working with the vendor on menu items and organizing the activities featured at the event.
The Yearbook Committee Chair is responsible for collecting and compiling photos of Harrison Students and staff throughout the school year as well as working with the yearbook publisher to order the yearbook in the spring.
Vision and Hearing Screening
Volunteers Needed: 4
Each fall, the PTO partners with HSS to provide a vision and hearing screening at the school.
The Young Explorers Committee Chair(s) coordinates volunteers for this STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) based activity that is provided for each classroom. Two to three unique projects are held throughout the year. The Committee Chair(s) will work with the Harrison Street School principal to establish needs for supplies and volunteers.
