STEPS WHEN MAKING MY LOGO:
1. I listened to my teacher for his input and ideal themes to be used in the logo.
-My teacher wanted our logo to include the colors red, blue, and white, because these are the colors of
Harmony Public Schools.
2. I thought about the intentions of Harmony, so I could make the logo show the qualities the schools have.
-Harmony School of Science High is a college preparatory school.
3. I try to show the elements of the school within the logo.
4. By connecting things usually not connected, it gives the logo a sense of uniqueness.
5. I then simplify the logo so it’s not too cluttered and easy for the viewer to look at. I wanted my logo to look clean and not tacky.
6. I make the logo more interesting and appealing to look at.
7. I place unique factors in the logo, so it is more memorable to the viewer.
This is how my final logo looks like:
Step 1:
I first used the rounded Rectangle Tool and drew a rounded rectangle. I then changed the fill to a dark red and removed the stroke.
Step 2:
I drew a rectangle with the Rectangle Tool and changed the fill to blue and removed the stroke. I then moved it in the center of the red rounded rectangle.
Step 3:
I made 2 thin rectangles with the Rectangle Tool to fit inside the rounded rectangle; one above the blue rectangle within and one below it. I then changed the thin rectangles fill to white and removed the stroke.
Step 4:
I used the Type Tool and made a text box using the bottom of my blue rectangle as a guide. I typed "Harmony Public Schools" using a font I saw suitable for the logo.
Step 5:
I found an image of a mustang and inserted it. I then changed it into a template.
Step 6:
After changing the image of a mustang to a template, I used the Pen Tool and traced the image of the mustang.
Step 7:
Once finished tracing, I changed the fill of the mustang into a gradient bronze color and removed the stroke. I then changed the opacity to about 40%. With the mustang still selected, I clicked effects and added a backdrop shadow and added an artistic affect in the effect gallery; giving the mustang a 3-D effect then place it in the middle of the logo.
-For making my logo, I used Adobe Illustrator CS4.
