If you are interested in trying out for the HSHS wrestling team, there will be an interest meeting today during A-Lunch in room 2608. See Coach Doggett if you have any questions.  

The HSHS Writer's Club will meet today during A Lunch in room 2612. Come to share your work, do fun writing exercises, and be part of a community. All are welcome!  

The Social Studies Honor Society would like to thank everyone who participated in the supply drive for Houston.  Thanks to you all, we have 40 boxes of supplies to ship to a high school in need!  The big class winner if the drive is Dr. Soboleski's 2nd block Latin Class.  Thank you to them for collecting over 1400 points worth of supplies!!  A Chick-Fil-A Breakfast will be provided for them soon! 

If you are interested in learning how to lift weights, there will be an interest meeting for the Weight Lifting Club Thursday, October 19, during A lunch in the weight room. See Coach Smith with any questions. 

Who wants to pie a varsity cheerleader in the face? On Friday, the Varsity cheerleaders will be “Saving” their spirit for the pep rally! They are only allowed to talk in class discussion, but nowhere else throughout the day on Friday! If you catch a Varsity cheerleader talking outside of class, you get to take their button. Anyone who has a cheerleader’s button at the end of the day gets to pie them in the face at the pep rally! Can they do it? Will they save their spirit or will you get to pie them in the face??

 The Muslim Student Association will meet Friday during B-lunch in the media center. All students are welcome! 

HOSA is participating in The Women's and Children's Shelter drive going on until November 8th. Please show your support by donating food, toiletries, or clothing to Mrs. Cress's room, 2508. All donations go to the Women's shelter in Raleigh. 

Attention potential Governor's School students.  Completed Governor's School application packets are due to Mr. Ellington no later than 2:30 on Monday, October 23rd.  No late applications will be accepted. 

Any athlete interested in trying out for indoor track must attend the meeting being held on Monday October 23rd during A-Lunch in the Main Gym.

 Remember to vote for your favorite Holly Springs High School teacher during the annual Teacher of the Year selection. This week you can nominate your favorite teacher by completing a short nomination form. You can get forms from your second period teacher, the front office, or through our school website. The deadline for nominations is Monday, October 23. 

Join us before our Homecoming game this Friday, October 20, at 6:30 pm in front of the stadium ticket booth for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our Golden Sidewalk!  Thank you if you purchased a brick – you make possible the work of the PTSA- from Teacher Grants,  Senior Scholarships, Reflections, special programs, staff appreciation, and so much more!  If you haven’t purchased a brick, it’s not too late- click here to order via Paypal http://www.brickmarkersusa.com/donors/hshs.html!  Your name will be seen by thousands and remembered for a lifetime right here in Holly Springs.  What a great way to show your Hawk pride and be REMEMBERED throughout the years to come!

 Reflections Contest is in Full Swing!

This year’s theme is “Within Reach.”  Get your creative juices flowing!  Entries in Visual Arts, Musical Composition, Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Photography, and Special Artists Division will be accepted.  Rules and entry forms may be found at this link.  Deadline for submissions is November 2.  Please turn in all work to Ms. Davis in the front office by that date.  Contact Nancy Friend (ncfriend3@gmail.com) or Ms. Sanders (msanders2@wcpss.net) with any questions.  New this year – the 1st place visual arts winner will receive a gift card to purchase a large canvas and paints to recreate your entry to hang in the school.   

 HSTC’s fifth murder mystery, Par for the Corpse, is Saturday, October 21.  Tickets are on sale today during HOT lunch.  One ticket is $20 and includes admission to our hilarious show and a delicious 3 course meal.  We hope you’ll attend this wonderful event! 

The Humanitarian Club is collecting items for the Halloween Carnival at Wake Med Children's Hospital. Please donate candy, stickers, and Halloween supplies to Mr. Smith's room in 1724. Donate 4 items for 1 hour of service for any club. 

There are several college representatives coming to Holly Springs High School.  Any juniors or seniors interested in attending the information sessions should sign up in Student Services.

Congratulations to the Girls Cross Country team.  They finished as the SWAC runners up and placed 4 girls on the All-Conference team.  Caitlyn Morton, Cayleigh Nelson, Brittany Ream and Grayson Smith were among the top 12 girls in the conference.  On the boys side Jevon Neal and Sam Young paced the boys to a close battle with Apex for 2nd place and both Jevon and Sam earned All-Conference.  Both teams now advance to the Mideast region championships on October 28.

There will be a French Honor Society meeting today in Ms. G's room, 3614 during lunch. All members of the French Honor Society are required to attend.

The HSHS Speech and Debate Team will be having a meeting after school today, October 17th, in room 1630. 

Attention HOSA members!  You can help fight blood cancer by attending the "Light the Night Walk" sponsored by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The Light the Night walk is a fundraising campaign where proceeds help to fund research and find cures for blood cancer. The interest meeting to attend this walk is today during B lunch (10/17) in Mrs. Cress's room 2508. See you there!"

Auditions for the National English Honor Society's Open Mic is today during lunch in room 1616!  The first Open Mic will take place on Monday, October 23rd during lunch in the media center.

Congratulations to Adeline Huffstutler for qualifying for the Women's Golf Regional Match to be held on Monday at Pinehurst course #5.  Adeline was also named South Wake Athletic Conference 2nd team all-conference.  Way to go Adeline! We will all be cheering for you! 

Are you interested in pursuing a career in nursing? If yes, HOSA is sponsoring a guest speaker session with a neonatal nurse.  She will provide information about the field of nursing and answer questions you may have about the nursing field.

Congratulations to the women's tennis team- Sam Mitchell and Emma Allan qualified for regionals as a doubles team in the conference tournament last night. They also received all conference honors. They will play in the regional tournament next week - go hawks and congratulations Sam and Emma!!

FCA will be meeting today in room 3706 during the 2nd half of lunch. See you there!

Book Club will meet today during A lunch in the media center. Come tell us about your favorite fantasy read! 

Guitar Club will meet during hot lunch today in Mr. Sosebee's class, room number 3726. Players of any stringed instrument are welcome, whether they are experts or beginners. Bring your own instrument, if possible.  

DECA Members, the DECA Rally will be held today in the main gym during A-Lunch. Come to pick up your shirts, grab some pizza, and hear from our NC DECA Triad Vice President. 

Returning varsity wrestlers - there will be a brief meeting today for all returning varsity wrestlers immediately after school in the health room, room 1406. 

 The Hawks Against Bullying Students Club has a meeting today during "B" lunch in room 3636. 

Everyone that bought a Humanitarian Club t-shirt needs to come see Mr. Kelly in room 3708 during lunch today. 

Senior Girls Powderpuff practice will be held in Ms. Osborn's room, 3724, today during both lunches. Please be sure to be there at the beginning of A lunch to go over plays for the upcoming game.

Attention all Latin Club Members! The meeting for this Friday after school has been cancelled.
