Introduction
My project is on the dissection and examination of a bullfrog.Frog dissection involves analyzing each of the frog's vital systems and considering how they work with each other. The digestive, respiratory and nervous systems are similar in composition to that of humans, but the frog's anatomy has many unique aspects. A frog's eye has three lids, the third of which is transparent and protects its eyes underwater. The frog's long curled tongue, used to snag flies and insects, is also important to examine.
Materials
For my dissection I will need,
-Goggles
-Gloves
-Apron
-Scalpel
-Scissors
-Pick
-Preserved bullfrog
Procedure
To make a clear dissection, you must start by making three incisions along the frogs chest, one going from top to bottom, and two going from side to side at each end to make a capital "I".
After making these incisions you will do the same with the frogs abdomen to reach the frogs organs.
After you make the cuts, you will open the frogs mouth, dislocating the jaw, to make the full examination.
Principle
The principle of this demo is to explore the similarities, and differences between the organ systems between humans and frogs, but also so that we can have a further understanding of how other organisms operate on an internal level.
Safety Procedure
To ensure safety while working with a scalpel, scissors, picks, and a preserved frog, I had to wear gloves, an apron, and goggles to protect my skin, and eyes.
