Introduction
My project is about secondhand smoke and how it affects your lungs. When a person is smoking by you the air that you breath in will hurt your lungs and cause cancer. As you allow the baby model to inhale the smoke from the adult model, you can see the tar build up.
The Innocent Smoker Demonstration Model can be used to demonstrate the amount of tar a nonsmoker's lungs absorb from someone else's cigarette.
Materials:
-lighter
-cigarette
-fillter
-model
-ash tray
Procedure:
1. Place the demonstrator on a surface that will not burn, and use the provided ashtray to catch the falling ashes. Falling ashes could damage an unprotected surface.
2. Place one of the smoke filters between the child's face amd filter plate located in front of the fan, and plug in the power cord.
3. Insert a filtered cigarette into the tube in the adults mouth. Dont insert the cigarette beyond its filter.
4. Light the cigarette as you alternately squeeze and release the black rubber bulb located on the back of the box.
5. While pumping the bulb, replace the lid. Be sure that the lid forms a tight seal with the box.
6. Continue to pump the rubber bulb every few seconds until the cigarette is extinguished.
7. Turn the switch located on the powder cord to start the fan.
8.After the smoke has been removed from the box, shut off the fan and remove the filter. The deposited tar will be visible on the filter.
9. Open the box outside or in a well-ventilated, designed smoking area. Opening the box will cause smoke oder to be released even after the smoke has disappeared.
