My experiment is about growing your own crystals at school or at home. Crystals are repeating pattern of atoms locked into a place like bricks on a wall. Different temperatures and chemical composition create variations of fascinating crystals.Crystals come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. From microscopic crystals to 40-ton huge ones, new crystals grow everyday beneath the Earth.
MATERIALS
1 large mixing stick
1 magnifying glass
1 pair of goggles
3 bottles of coloring dye (red, blue, and yellow)
1 LED base
1 bag of stones
2 bags of Chemical Powder (frosty diamond and spiked crystal)

PROCEDURE
Boil 340 milliliters of water
Mix the hot water with bag #11 (spiked crystal) with the large mixing stick *be sure that the solution is mixed well without any grains left)
Place 1 base rock into each "D" growing cups
Pour the mix into these slots. Leave 1/3 of an inch of space between the top of the water and the rim of the cup
Add coloring dye into each slot in whichever color you want. You can mix colors to make new ones according to the color chart.
For green --> 10 drops of blue + 5 drops of yellow
For purple --> 9 drops of red + 6 drops of blue
Make a clear one for the LED base display
Set the crystal growing cups in a place where there would not be any disturbances and changes in temperature.
Crystals will grow in just hours and in 3 to 4 days you may remove your crystals from their cups.

PRECAUTIONS!- When handling boiling water ask help from your teacher or another grown up! If any of the chemical crystal mixes are touched, wash your hands thoroughly.
