Straight Talk Customer Service

Let me first say I really like the price of my Straight Talk phone service.  I am spending $30 a month for 1000 minutes and 1000 texts, I don't use the data as I am almost always next to a computer with internet accesss.

The customer service for Straight Talk is all done from overseas, I believe mainly the Philippines, and South America.  The problem is as a system gets more complicated it is harder to fix.  There are several factors involved in Straight Talk Service.  The underlying service company.  Straight Talk is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator, this means it does not own the cell phone towers or network but buys service time from other Cell phone companies, mainly Verizon, At&t and T-Mobile.

This makes problem solving difficult for Straight Talk because they always have to deal with another company when there is a problem with your phone.

No matter what the excuse the Straight Talk Customer Service is poor.  You will normally spend 30 to 90 minutes on the phone trying to solve your problem and often they will not fix it.

The worst problem I have dealt with was trying to port a phone number from another company into Straight Talk.   Sometimes they cannot get it done. 

Avoid using Straight Talk Customer service if at all possible.  Again I really like the price of their service and my calling and text messaging work great. 

Multiple Straight Talk Phones

Another thing I have done is I have bought multiple phones when I buy a Straight Talk phone.  If the first one is defective I have another to set up and use right away.   Also I end up with two batteries and two chargers.  I have one in my travel bag all the time along with one on my desk where I normally charge my phone.
