News from the Road
Well, it was pointed out to me (quite fairly!) today that I've been a slacker about managing our web page. All I can say is "Yup, I've been slacking and relying on our emails. I'll try to catch up!"
The calendar, at least, is up to date (because it updates itself when I create events, but let's not nitpick!) And the calendar tells me that on the 17th-20th the Rhymes & Vines music festival will be in full swing at Melody Mountain Ranch. (In fact they'll let us set up camp from Wednesday night the 16th!) From their site it looks like the sites they have left might be boondocking, but it's not clear so if you haven't reserved and want to join us, give them a call.
I'll try to be good and write about Texas Country Air in a day or two!
We're gathering in Hico, Texas at the city's Bosque River RV Park 19-21 September 2014 to celebrate the arrival of decent camping weather with great friends, good food and a relaxed good time. As a matter of fact, we're taking over the park for the weekend, we arranged for the city to promise us the whole place and it looks like we're going to fill every one of the developed campsites. We're allowed to boondock in the park, though, so if you'd still like to come you're certainly welcome... the long-range forecast shows cool nights and warm days!
Join us for some boondocking under a full moon on the mesa at LBJ Grasslands 17-19 January 2014!
The full moon peaks just 2 days before, so we should have some great moonlight to go with our campfires. There is currently no restriction on campfires from the Grasslands or Wise County, so bring your firewood! The Grasslands is an "unimproved" campsite so if you have a pop-up canopy or camp table to share bring it with you. There's no fee for camping at the Grasslands, and they're expecting us. I'll post detailed directions at the end.
As usual for boondocking, plan to arrive with full freshwater, plenty of propane and empty waste tanks. Greywater release is allowed. Generator use is allowed for battery charging for those of us who aren't solar-equipped. We try to group generator users together, but it should only take a little while in the daytime to charge batteries anyway.
Documentary filmmaker Eric Bricker will be camping with us as a guest of Paul and Ann, doing some filming and interviews for an Airstream project he's working on. He may feel he needs an Airstream after a weekend with us!
Friday 17 January
Saturday 18 January
Sunday 19 January
Since this is a 3-day weekend, some of us may stay over until Monday!
Directions and other info are available at the event entry on the calendar.
