Camp Outs / Rallies and News

  • Our Season Opener in Hico, TX is just around the corner!
We're gathering in Hico, Texas at the city's Bosque River RV Park 19-21 September 2014 to celebrate the arrival of decent camping weather with great friends, good food and a relaxed good time.  As a matter of fact, we're taking over the park for the weekend, we arranged for the city to promise us the whole place and it looks like we're going to fill every one of the developed campsites.  We're allowed to boondock in the park, though, so if you'd still like to come you're certainly welcome... the long-range forecast shows cool nights and warm days!

  • Boondocking under a full moon at LBJ Grasslands 17-19 January 2014
Join us for some boondocking under a full moon on the mesa at LBJ Grasslands 17-19 January 2014!

The full moon peaks just 2 days before, so we should have some great moonlight to go with our campfires.  There is currently no restriction on campfires from the Grasslands or Wise County, so bring your firewood! The Grasslands is an "unimproved" campsite so if you have a pop-up canopy or camp table to share bring it with you. There's no fee for camping at the Grasslands, and they're expecting us. I'll post detailed directions at the end.

As usual for boondocking, plan to arrive with full freshwater, plenty of propane and empty waste tanks. Greywater release is allowed.  Generator use is allowed for battery charging for those of us who aren't solar-equipped.  We try to group generator users together, but it should only take a little while in the daytime to charge batteries anyway.

Documentary filmmaker Eric Bricker will be camping with us as a guest of Paul and Ann, doing some filming and interviews for an Airstream project he's working on.  He may feel he needs an Airstream after a weekend with us!

    Friday 17 January
Arrive and get set up.  Remember it gets DARK out there so it's easiest to arrive when there's still daylight.
    5-ish HOTC Happy Hour
    7-ish Potluck, campfires and camaraderie.

    Saturday 18 January
8-ish Grill/Griddle will be available for those who want to cook breakfast together
    Lunch on your own
    5-ish HOTC Happy Hour
7-ish Dinner cooked for us by Shirley and Mike Richey!
    Sunday 19 January
8-ish Grill/Griddle will be available for those who want to cook breakfast together

Since this is a 3-day weekend, some of us may stay over until Monday!

Directions and other info are available at the event entry on the calendar.

  • HOTC Annual Christmas Campout, Dec. 6-8, 2013 at Coffee Creek RV Resort, Santo, Tx.
    HOTC Annual Christmas Campout!
HO HO HO and Merry Christmas!  Here we go again with our annual Xmas Campout!  Coffee Creek is is ready for us!  We will have one of the Clubhouses for our Potluck on Friday night, and Saturday night's "Aluminum Chef" contest.  Candy Fisher, last year's winner for "ginger" has chosen "POMEGRANATE" for this year's secret ingredient.  So get out the cookbooks, google, or get creative and cook, mix or whatever your entry for the contest.  HOTC has always had some of the best dishes created with the secret ingredient.  Winner takes the coveted HOTC Aluminum Chef plaque for the year.  This is only if you want to participate.  We will also have our famous/fun Chinese/White Elephant gift exchange.  This year, just one gift per trailer.  Last year it lasted a long time!  Just bring a wrapped item of your choice...ornaments, Airstream stuff, funny, creative, absurd, whatever you want, for the fun.  I promise, it is always amusing.  Just remember, there may be children present!
We will also introduce and install the new Officers.
If you feel the urge to get in the holiday spirit, decorate your trailer!  Always fun to see the Airstreams decorated.

Please call Coffee Creek for your reservation.  If you need to park close to the clubhouse, just tell Rene, and they will accommodate. If you have your trailer winterized, or want to include a friend, they do have adorable camping cabins too!
