Welcome to the Hospiscare Choir website
Hospiscare is a local charity and provides palliative care for the Exeter, mid and east Devon areas

A very warm welcome from me, Brian Clifton, to the Hospiscare Choir website.
If you are  member of Hospiscare Staff or a Hospiscare Volunteer,
(or a Supporter who has previous singing experience) and are considering joining us,
or would like us to sing for you, please contact us

The Hospiscare Choir is based in Exeter, Devon, UK and is composed of Medical
and Administrative Staff, Managers, Volunteers and Supporters of Hospiscare
who all give their time voluntarily to form the Hospiscare Choir.

We enjoy singing and performing easy listening music throughout the year.
At present, amongst others, we're singing songs made famous by Abba, Bill Withers, Johnny Cash,
Louis Armstrong, ELO, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Beach Boys, Cilla Black,
The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Carly Simon, The Pretenders and Judy Garland.
Most of our songs are sung in harmony and we also enjoy singing festive music at Christmas.

You can download and hear us performing two of the songs we sing:

Christmas 2017 saw us forming part of the UK Hospices Choir, singing on the single 'Stand Together'
taken from the album 'Choirs With Purpose'. The album reached No. 40 in the compilation Album Charts,
and can be bought from Amazon

You can see the video of the single Stand Together here (look out for us in teal t-shirts!):

and the ITV News coverage here:

Just before Christmas 2016 we were featured on ITV Westcountry singing a new song composed from a poem by
12 year old Josie Sanders, whose Grandfather was a Hospiscare Patient.
The following Sunday we performed it for the first time in public at our
Light Up A Life service in Exeter Cathedral to an audience of over 1000 people.

You can see it here:

The beautiful music was composed by our Musical Director, Alfie Pugh

Hospice choirs were very much in the news at Christmas 2016, and many people join because they like to sing,
or would like to, and also support a charity close to their heart. The London Hospices Choir went to No.1
in the physical Singles Charts singing The Living Years with Paul Carrack. You can see it here:

Our choir rehearsals are weekly on a Tuesday from 4.45pm to 6pm at Hospiscare, Searle House,
Dryden Road, Exeter, EX2 5JJ and we perform throughout the year at all sorts of events.
If you wish to know more about us, would like to consider joining the choir and supporting Hospiscare,
or would like us to sing at your event and make a donation to Hospiscare, please email our Secretary, Fran Packer:

If you're considering joining please contact Fran who will arrange a free taster session to see if our choir is for you.
You may be currently placed on a waiting list to join as the choir has proved so popular.
We have four terms a year, and new members are invited to start at the beginning of a new term if there is a place.

                Brian Clifton - Choir Chairman

ps: We are often asked why our name is spelt 'Hospiscare' instead of 'Hospice Care'.
It is because 'Isca' is the Roman name for Exeter, and can be found in the middle of our name.
