Welcome!

COMPUTER NOT LOADING EPISD PLAZA/CLASSLINK?

Try to "fix" your computer by trying each of these, in this order. They may...or may not...work. But the last one has always worked.

A. Close all tabs except the Classlink tab.  Now refresh that tab.

B.  Hit refresh after you login as it endlessly loads...and then hit refresh again.  (Seems the 2nd refresh is the key.)

C. Get closer to your WiFi router and/or open all doors between your router and your computer. Close the Classlink tab. Try to load EPISD Classlink/Plaza in a fresh tab again.

D. Quit Chrome. Open Chrome again with only one tab open and try to load EPISD Classlink/Plaza again.

E. Quit all programs (except Finder). Hold and down the "command" key (next to the space bar) and then simultaneously press the "tab" key (above caps lock). This shows you the icons of all open programs. Cycle to each one by keeping "command" pressed and repeatedly tapping "tab," release these two keys, then press and then hold "command" and the letter Q key until the program quits. Again press and hold "command" while pressing "tab" to cycle to the next open program and repeat this process until everything has been quit, except "Finder" which is your operating system and cannot be quit. Restart your computer, open only Chrome and try to load EPISD Classlink/Plaza in a fresh tab again.

F. Clear Chrome's browsing data as follows:

1. Open Google Chrome.

2. Click on "History" and drag down to, "Show Full History" then release.

3. A new tab opens. On the left side of screen click on, "Clear browsing data."

4. A new window pops up. Click on, "Advanced" and for "Time Range" select "All time."

5. Check every box you can check.

6. Click, "Clear data."

7. Wait until the wheel stops spinning, then hold "command" (next to the space bar) and "Q" to quit Google Chrome.

8. Restart your computer.

9. Open Chrome again and all should be well.

G. Press the top row button on your keyboard that looks like a rocket ship. Select the app named, "Self Service." Once in that app, types into the search box, "Chrome" and hit return. If the Chrome icon that comes up says, "Update" under the icon, then click on the "Update." (If it says, "Install" then you're already updated.) Once done updating, quit Self Service, quit Chrome and restart your computer, open only Chrome and try to load EPISD Classlink/Plaza in a fresh tab once again.

H. Try another device to get into EPISD Classlink/Plaza.

Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task.

 * Those of you who would like to advance beyond District Science Fair to regional (Sun Country) and state-level competitions should be aware of the

Texas Science and Engineering Fair website

and the rules for all projects

roles and responsibilities of students and adults

display and safety regulations.

Also realize that only the top 3 projects from each category advance from District Science Fair to Sun Country Science Fair, so before you chose your project, look at this list of categories, realizing that the checked categories generally have fewer entries than the unchecked (commonly chosen) categories.

Any experiment that uses

human participants (to include survey projects),

vertebrate animals,

potentially hazardous biological agents, or

hazardous chemicals

also requires additional paperwork, and some of the above require permissions from certified institutes (UTEP is the only certified facility in El Paso).

Again, if you want to advance beyond District science fair, please read the ISEF rules that apply to your project carefully so there are no surprises.

Lastly, the best projects are the ones that you're interested in and already questioning.  The best projects don't come from a Google search.  Survey projects tend to not advance very far--if you want to advance through the science fairs, a controlled experiment in a lesser-used category is your best bet.
