At the time of the Boxer Rebellion only Spaniels, Pugs, and Poodles were found in the Imperial Palace when it was occupied by the Allied Forces, the little dogs having once more preceded the court in the flight to Si-gnanfu.77%
Sonoran Desert Toad - Bufo alvarius
Sonoran Desert Toad - Bufo alvarius Local resident in Sierra Vista, Arizona These toads, like many others, secret a highly potent defensive toxin from pores located all over it's skin, the major secretion being from the parotid glands. This toxin is strong enough to kill a large adult dog if it were to pick this toad up with it's mouth. Symptoms can mimic that of rabies - Intense saliva production, disorientation, irregular heartbeat, mouth irritation. The first appearance of these toads usually indicate the onset of monsoon rains in Southeast and Central Arizona. Their larval stages metamorphosis in 6-10 weeks total time. A remarkably fast time in comparison to the American Bullfrog which grows smaller and undergoes the same metamorphosis in typically one year.
