Welcome to Horizons 4-H Robotics

This is our registration page for upcoming Horizons 4-H Robotics classes and workshops located in Ellicott City, Maryland. You can find general information about Horizons 4-H Robotics here.

Our Battle Bot workshop has been cancelled. We hope to see you in a future Horizons 4-H event!

Do you love to build with Legos or Lego Mindstorm robot kits? Have you dreamed of having the chance to build the toughest, fastest, and coolest robot ever? Are you read to unleash your creations in a series of challenges to see which robot will win? Then we have the workshop for you!

Horizons 4-H Club is offering a 2-hour robotics workshop to students who are interested in learning how to build robots that will compete against other robots in challenges such as:

*SuGO Battle - Think Sumo wrestling and Lego robotics all wrapped up in one intense competition

*LineBot Battle - Use your weapon (the dreaded black line) to foil your opponent's plan for game domination

*Capture the Flag Battle - Add attachments to your robot to capture opponent's flags as robots crash into each other

*Invent a Battle - Have a great idea for a Bot Battle? We'd love to try it!

Here's an example of a Bot Battle using the SuGO competition field:

In this workshop, students will learn about gears, wheels, and attachments and how the choices they make when constructing their robot can affect the speed and power of their robot. After some time spent exploring the cool world of physics and robotics, kids will be unleashed on the daily Battle Challenge. No previous experience with Lego robotics is needed.

Who is teaching? A five-time FIRST Lego League coach assisted by experienced robotics team members from the club's FTC (FIRST Tech Challenge) and FLL teams.

Who can participate? Children ages 9-14.  Prior experience building with Legos is a definite plus.

When is the class? Classes will be held 2 - 4 p.m. from August 17-21.**

**Note: This workshop is not a full day camp. Before- and aftercare are not available.

Where is the class? We will meet at the Howard County 4-H Extension Office located at 3300 N. Ridge Road, Suite 240, Ellicott City.  This is a drop-off activity, though parents are welcome to sit in the back of the room to observe if they wish.

What is the cost? The class is $100. Funds will be used to support robotics programs in Horizons 4-H Club.

How do I enroll?  Payment received will hold your spot.  Please pay via PayPal or send a check made out to "Horizons 4-H Club" and fill out the online registration form located here.
