Mr. Analyst,

Thank you.

The downside is that the Catamarca government recently started to build a 800 mm diameter, 20 km long, aqueduct that will presumably block the 2.20 m diameter, 450 m long, tunnel built in 1961 to feed an hydropower station at Las Pirquitas dam, even after I proposed on september 2006 a better solution to the same problem (to provide 1 m3/s of regulated superficial water flow from the del Valle river to San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca city, 170.000+ inhabitants, 30+ years), that fully preserves this energetic resource.

Could you please correct the 2.25 MW figure?
I think that with proper engineering the Las Pirquitas project could have an installed power in the range 4-12 MW. Thanks.

Mr. Varela,

We are a public domain website. The International Small-hydro Atlas was developed as part of the International Energy's Implementing Agreement for Hydropower technologies and Programmes www.ieahydro.org.

The website contains a small hydro site database of potential and existing sites made up of country databases and general information about small hydro in each country (a country brief) submitted through one international contact per country. A typical key country contact is usually part of or affiliated with the national government. We do not have a contact or any information for Argentina. If you have a suggestion for a suitable key country contact for Argentina, please send us their contact information.

The information for Argentina on the website is from 1999 and out-of-date. I would suggested obtaining the most recent version of the  International Journal of Hydropower and Dams World Atlas. It contains the most comprehensive and recent information on hydropower in individual countries: http://www.hydropower-dams.com/

If you are in the hydropower business and wish to add you company contact information to our website database, please use the following link: http://www.small-hydro.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=information.home

Thank-you for your interest in our website www.small-hydro.com.
