The Johns Hopkins Postdoctoral Association (JHPDA) and the Homewood Postdoctoral Association (HW-PDA) formally invite you to attend our Fourth Annual Postdoctoral Retreat.


When:      Wednesday, April 12 2017

Where:     Turner Concourse meeting space on the East Baltimore campus  

Open to:   All Hopkins postdoctoral fellows across all Hopkins campuses and institutes, Postdoctoral fellows at UM-Baltimore, UM College Park and NIH Bayview campus.


This year's retreat will focus on strategies for success in personal branding and scientific communication.

 Registration closes    Friday, April 7th 2017
**Abstract submission is not required to participate in the retreat, but registration is mandatory. Posters presented at other scientific meetings will be accepted.

Breakout sessions will be assigned based on seating availability.


Abstracts and awards: Judged on-site, the best scientific presentations will be awarded a travel award (to be used for a future conference)! Award amounts are as follows:

  • 2 oral presentation awards ($1000, $500)
  • 2 poster presentation awards ($1000, $500)
  • 1 poster presentation award for external (NIH-Bayview, UM College Park and UMB) postdocs ($250)

  • Barbara Mikulski, United States Senator from 1987-2017, JHU Professor of Public Policy
  • Dr. Gregg L. Semenza, MD, PhD, Professor of Pediatrics, Radiation Oncology, Biological Chemistry, Medicine, and Oncology at JHU School of Medicine. Dr. Semenza received the prestigious Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research in 2016 for his groundbreaking work on oxygen sensing mechanisms in cells.
