We Welcome Kids in Worship
Helping children worship is an opportunity for the entire congregation. In the Sacrament of Baptism we as a congregation agree to support parents in living out their promise to bring children regularly to worship. In fact, Gethsemane no longer has a staffed nursery during worship hours. We have created a “Kids Corner” in the narthex so that even if a parent feels the need to leave the sanctuary they can still feel a part of worship.

We all know how hard it can be to bring the whole family to church. You can support these families by:
Greeting them with a kind word during the passing of the peace.
  • Including them in your conversations before and after worship to let them know they belong. Call them by name.
  • Considering that even if the children may sometimes cry and be disruptive, at least they are here in church and the parents made an effort to bring them.
  • Supporting parents with an encouraging smile.
Remember that the way we welcome children in worship directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God, and to one another. Let them know they are at home in this house of worship.
