Habitat for Humanity Build Aug 6-7

Gethsemane has a long-standing partnership with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity. We’ve sent crews to one or two build sites each year since 2000. This includes two Hopkins homes for which we were Contributing Sponsors. Our 2019 Work Project is Tuesday, August 6 and Wednesday, August 7 at a “Thrivent Builds with Habitat” site in Richfield at 7300 Portland Ave. S.

The Social Ministry team organizes this annual Habitat initiative and there are several different opportunities for you to be involved. For a successful Work Project, we need:
  • 10-13 crew to work each day.  Volunteers must be 16 or older.
  • People to provide food items for the crew
  • Volunteers to deliver the crew’s lunch to the site
  • Financial donors to support the work of TCHFH.
Participating churches are asked to contribute $1500 a day for a regular Habitat Build. However, if it’s a Thrivent sponsored home, as is the one in Richfield, Thrivent donates half the required amount. Hence, GLC’s total required contribution for the two days is $1500. This is our July Need of the Month.

A sign-up table for Crew and Food Providers will be in the Gathering Space beginning Sunday, July 7.
