Salsa & Swing Dancing Social w/ Performances!
Hey everybody! Hopkins Dance Club will be hosting a night of Salsa and Swing social dancing on Saturday evening Oct 26th on Homewood campus.* There will also be performances by the first ever Hopkins Dance Club performance team!!!
What: Salsa & Swing Dancing Social w/ Performances
When: Saturday October 26th, 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM (performances9:30 – 9:45 PM)
Where: Levering Hall Great Hall (Homewood campus – bldg. 40 oncampus map)
Attire: dress nice and wear comfortable shoes that are easy to dance in (flip flops are not recommended).
If you have attended our Salsa and/or Swing lessons in the past (or you have any outside Salsa/Swing experience), this is a great opportunity to practice, show off your moves, meet new people and watch some beautiful performances. There will be a brief introduction / warm-up to each of the dances at the beginning (~15 minutes each). Then, we will alternate between playing Salsa and Swing music. There is no partner necessary, and we encourage everyone to mingle. Best of all, it’s completely FREE for everyone!
* For those of you coming from the Medical campus or School of Public Health, there is a free shuttle that runs hourly between the Medical and Homewood campuses until 1 AM.

Square Dancing Social
Hey everybody! Hopkins Dance Club will be hosting a night of Square Dancing on Friday evening Oct 18th. Professional caller Shane Knudsen will call moves to the lively music of Brad Kolodner (banjo, fiddle, guitar), Ken Kolodner (fiddle, hammered dulcimer) and Alex Lacquement (bass). At the beginning, Shane will go over some of the terminology and explain the basic moves. There is no experience or partner necessary, so everyone is welcome! Free snacks and refreshment provided too. Here is an example of a square dance night to get you excited:

Swing & Salsa Inter-School Holiday Social!
Hopkins Dance Club is teaming up with Pulse Dance Club and the MMI student group to bring you a night of Swing and Salsa dance next Wednesday evening (Dec 4th) at 6:30 PMon the Medical campus. This event is FREE and open to everyone. Plus, there is no experience or partner required! Come unwind and hang out with friends before the holidays. See the attached flyer for details.
Note: the Armstrong Medical Education Building is located in section 3D on the medical campus map.

Beginner Salsa Dance Lessons
What: Beginner Salsa Dance Lessons (3 weeks standard Salsa + 3 weeks Rueda de Casino Salsa)
When: Wednesdays, Oct 9th - Nov 13th, 6:30-8pm
Where: Daily Grind (Medical Campus - Ross Research Bldg 3rd floor) - section 2H on the attached map
Cost: FREE for graduate students (with valid graduate student ID), $5 per lesson for all others (postdocs, alumni, staff, non-Hopkins community members, etc.)
Hey everybody! Hopkins Dance Club will be hosting 6-weeks of beginner Salsa Dance lessons on the Medical Campus on Wednesday evenings. There will be 3 weeks of standard (slot) Salsa followed by 3 weeks of (circular) Rueda de Casino Salsa. No experience or partner required! Lessons will be taught by professional instructor Niss Albaig of SalsaNow. For those of you on Homewood campus, there is a free shuttle that goes to the Medical campus every 15-20 minutes: (http://www.parking.jhu.edu/shuttles_jhmi_homewood.html). Everyone is welcome!

When: Sunday (April 21st) 2-3:30pm
Where: SDS room in the Mattin Building (Homewood Campus)
Cost: FREE for graduate students - $5 for all others
Hey everybody! Hopkins Dance Club will be hosting a Salsa Styling workshop this Sunday. If you have taken a beginner Salsa series and you want to learn some styling techniques, you will love this workshop taught by our own Club President, Alexi Russell! Whether you are an advanced-beginner or a seasoned dancer, whether you are a guy or a girl, you will really benefit from this workshop which will teach you how to move your torso and shoulders to make your dancing more fluid. At the end of the workshop, you will learn a mini styling routine that you can use at social dances.
