I just wanted to let everyone know that my beloved mother,Mary LeGoff passed away last night and I would like to have her name added to the MM Honor Roll.

She was just recently diagnosed with MM in November and only had two Chemo treatments in December, when she developed a Urinary Tract Infection and was hospitalized a few days after Christmas. Things just spiraled out of control from there. She possibly aspirated, had a touch of Pneumonia, had a high fever for several days, which led to her blood pressure dropping, to her going into acute renal failure and needing Dialysis and having trauma to her brain from all of these events, which caused her to not be mentally responsive most of the time. She was a tough lady and fought a good fight for 5 1/2 weeks in the hospital but in the end, she had too many things going against her. It was very tough to see my mom go through all of this too and then heartbreaking to lose her last night.

Even though she was 77 yrs old and had several health conditions(Diabetes, advancing Parkinson's and Multiple Myeloma) I was very optimistic that my mom would respond to the new MM novelty drugs but that was not to be. One of the doctors in the hospital initially said, that the MM treatment had helped her but then after awhile, the MM caused some problems for her too. She was Anemic and had to receive several blood transfusions. In addition, her Protein levels were high, her Platelet count was low and her white blood cells were not good. Also, her immune system was comprimised, with having both the MM and receiving two Chemo treatments, which weakened her. She also had problems with infections arising and then fighting them off.
Finally, even though I was only on this website for a short period of time, I really did appreciate everyone's quick responses, advice and support. Everyone has been wonderful, especially Sarah Gorrell. I will continue to visit this site and check and see how every one is doing and I wish all of you, all the best. Thanks again for everything. Sincerely,

Denise LeGoff
