Honeymoon in Ooty

Honeymoon in Ooty - India offers some of the most spectacular hill stations in the world and Ooty is one of them. Lush green Ooty, located at the foothills of Nilgiris, is a land of unmatched picturesque views which draw a large number of honeymooners every year. With its spectacular scenic beauty and salubrious climes, Ooty is aptly called 'The Queen of Southern Hills'. Ooty, short for Ootacamund, which means 'a house in the mountains' in local parlnce, is located in Tamil Nadu. It lies 7,349ft above sea level in the Nilgiris (Blue Mountains). Ooty was founded in the 19th century by the British, who then made it their own, realising its potential as a summer getaway. They built small towns here with beautiful cottages and churches.

Its lofty mountains, acres and acres of tea estates, greenery, dense forests and grasslands simply connect you with nature. Ooty is also known for its botanical garden, spread over 55 acres. It boasts of having some of rarest trees and flowers from all over the world. Ooty Boat House Lake, or Ooty Lake, constructed in L-shape by John Sullivan, the former Collector of Coimbatore, is another major tourist attraction here. At first sight, you might find it an ordinary lake, just like any other lake in India, but as you go for boating, you are left bewitched by the picturesque surroundings. You can even sit at the edge of the lake, wondering how beautiful and powerful nature can be and thanking God for this precious moment with you soulmate.

Lamb's Rock, with its spectacular surroundings is ideal for taking pictures. Similarly, you can take stunning pictures of tea estates and the Moyar River from Kodanadu's View Point. Kalhatty Waterfalls, on the Kalhatty slopes will rejuvenate you. Dolphin's Nose, as the name suggests is another very interesting place in Ooty. It is a huge rock formation, which resembles a dolphin's nose. You will also love 'Avalanche', which unlike its name, is a beautiful lake, with breathtaking sights of nature. Coonnoor, a beautiful town some 17kms from Ooty, is famous for variety of birds and flowers. A place you would not like to miss after coming so close.

With the scenic beauty, which we thought only existed in fairy tales, Ooty is a perfect place for newlyweds to weave their future dreams together.
