The Honey Bees

      There has been a sudden drop in the honey bees population.  The cause is known as the Colony Colapese Disorder (CCD).  Honey bees provide one-third of our food supply.If we didn't  have bees we would be skipping one of our meals a day.All honey  bees are social and cooperative insects. Bees live on stored honey and pollen all winter, and cluster into a a ball to conserce warmth. Honey bees are usally very gentel creatures who mind their own business . Honey bees are normally about 3/4 of an inch long. Honey bees are not native in the USA. They are not aggresive  by nature, and will not sting unless protecting their a hive from an intruder. Bees use their antenna to see.  Honey is used by the bees all year round. There many types,colors and flavors of honey,depending upon its nectar source. The bees make honey from the nectar they collect from flowering trees and plants.Honey is an easily digestible,pure food. Eating local honey can fend off allergies. Honeybees represent a highly organized society, with various bees having very specific roles during their lifetime: nurses, guards, grocers, housekeepers, construction workers, royal attendants, undertakers,foragers,etc. The queen bee can live for about 4 years.
