The Central Indiana County Water Authority has released their Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) for 2015. This report is available online, or if you are unable to view online a printed copy is available at the Homer City Borough office.
The annual Homer City Area Community Yard Sales will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 and will begin at 8:00 AM. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, July 6th with no exceptions! This is a widely advertised event, and the maps will be available on the day of the sale at various Homer City area businesses. You may sign up at the Homer City Borough Office on Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. The fee is $3.00.
The new contract with Waste Management provides for the following:
Large items will be picked up once per week and include: furniture, washers, dryers, stoves, water heaters, refrigerators (Freon must be removed by a certified technician and labeled as such), hedge cuttings, limbs and branches from trees not to exceed 3" in diameter, and only if securely tied in bundles not exceeding 48" in length. Items not included are stones, rocks, broken concrete, demolition and/or construction materials, ashes. No special arrangements need to be made, just place the items at your regular location on pickup day.
They will also pick up e-Waste and household hazardous waste collection (computers, televisions, etc), but you MUST obtain a special kit from Waste Management for this service. Please call the Borough Office at 724-479-8005 for more information.
Myers Morbid Manor, and annual Halloween event on South Main Street in Homer City Borough every year, raised $1,000 for Make-A-Wish this year with their Haunted House. This family creates their Haunted House every year and doesn't charge a standard fee, but instead asks for donations. Thank you for your gift to this organization and your gift to our community!
The Homer City Borough crew will be picking up leaves on Thursday and Friday throughout the fall season. Leaves must be bagged and free of limbs, branches and debris. They must be placed at the curb.
Spring hydrant flushing by the Central Indiana County Water Authority will be done on the following dates at the following locations:
April 14, Homer City Borough and Robert's Addition in Center Township
April 15, White Township and Center Township surrounding Homer City Borough, except Coral- Graceton area
April 16, Center Township, Coral-Graceton area.
During flushing, water pressure may be diminished. Please be sure to use cold water any time water pressure is diminished and returns to normal to prevent pulling sediment from your water lines into your hot water tank.

Penn DOT is setting the signal light at the Main Street and Elm Street intersection to flashing beginning Tuesday, April 8, 2014. This is the first phase of the project, and the lights will remain flashing for 90 days. At the end of that time period, PennDOT will be removing all lights at this site, and we will have only stop signs on all four sides of this intersection. Please exercise caution both as a driver and as a pedestrian during this process. BE CAREFUL!
