Greg Anton of Zero released his first book Face The Music - a fiction about a brilliant but struggling musician, hoping to make it big with a song he wrote inspired by his girlfriend. An excellent read for anyone who is interested in musicians, love, and the music industry. I am absolutely delighted that Greg will be on the Homegrown Music Show on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. Please tune in!

Photographer Bob Minkin (Rolling Stone, Relix, Guitar Player, Guitar World,Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Grateful Dead Productions) has put out Live Dead, a stunning 224-page hardcover coffee table book spanning almost 40 years of epic Grateful Dead photos and stories; forward by Steve Parish; preface by Tom Constanten; Introduction by Blair Jackson. Bob Minkin joined Sister Sylvie on the Homegrown Music Show on Sunday, Nov. 16 for an interview on his adventures and this marvelous new book. Ahhh, great memories... Hope you were able to tune in. You may check out his photos and information on the book on www.minkinphotography.com

Dennis McNally interviewed on the Homegrown Music Show on Saturday, Oct. 25 and discussed his new book On Highway 61: Music, Race and the Evolution of Cultural Freedom (which comes out Oct. 14, 2014). It is a must-read for fanatics of music and American studies. [If you missed or would like to hear again the interview, it may be streamed on thelion.fm under showblogs.] FYI: Grateful Dead fans should already be familiar with his book A Long Strange Trip: The Inside History of the Grateful Dead, which I use as my go-to reference for Grateful Dead facts and history of the 1960s and on.
