Fort Rocky

Earlier this month we took 12 young people, aged 10 – 14, from our Zone youth club, away to Whitemoor Lakes, near Alweras for a Youth for Christ ‘Fort Rocky’ weekend.

The weekend was excellently organised, jam packed with games, challenges, quizzes, workshops,
Fort Rocky
road shows, outdoor activities and much more, and it was great to see the young people so enthusiastically take part.

Some of our group faced and conquered their own fears over the weekend - one lad persevered on the rope climbing challenge until on his third attempt, he succeeded and reached the top. Another fought back his fear of heights and had a go on the high Zip wire. Others attempted new activities for the first time.

The Christian message and the theme of authenticity was put over in a relevant way using the testimonies of the YFC leaders and illustrations that kept the youngster’s interest, and encouraged them to think further about what it means to be a Christian.

The facilities were first class and the food excellent – and coffee was on tap 24:7 for the leaders which was much appreciated after the boys were still awake at 4.30am on Saturday morning!!

Please pray for the youngsters who came with us – that seeds will have been sown in their lives and that memories of Fort Rocky will stay with them for many years.

To quote one of the young people, “I love Fort Rocky – I don’t want it to end! I want it to go on forever".

Of course none of this would have happened without our fantastic youth team who also rose to the Fort Rocky challenge! So a big thank you to all of you.
