Bishop's Lent Appeal 2016

"Standing up for Children" is this year's theme, and, as always, has an international, as well as local focus.

Locally The Children’s Society has projects which support and care for vulnerable children living in our parishes. Donations will help provide Specially Trained Independent Visitors (IVs) who can offer a listening ear and one-to-one support for those children and young people who often come from troubled backgrounds and live in the care of a foster family or other care-giver. These children and young people deal with difficult circumstances on a daily basis, therefore IVs can offer much needed stability and security.

Lenten collections will go towards this, as well as other valuable projects across England which directly supports some of our country's most vulnerable children.

Internationally, the plight of our fellow-Christians in the Holy Land remains parlous, with many desperate needs. Supporting Friends of the Holy Land through our Lent Appeal will make a real difference to the lives of many of our brothers and sisters and will signal our solidarity with them.

Please do try and support this year’s Lent Appeal. All donations and prayer for children and young people the world over would be very much appreciated!
