I am a tenured Associate Professor of Accounting specializing in corporate reporting and disclosure issues. My research strategy is to identify unique empirical settings to test both traditional and behavioral economic theories, with the goal of generating insights that are not only academically rigorous but also relevant to practitioners and regulators. My work has appeared in leading accounting and business journals, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, Management Science, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Accounting Studies, and Contemporary Accounting Research. It has been cited by influential bodies such as the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board, as well as in prominent media outlets like The Wall Street Journal and The Business Times, underscoring its impact on both policy discussions and public discourse.
I received my Ph.D. in accounting from Cornell University, after earning a Master of Accounting from the University of Michigan and a B.B.A. from National Taiwan University. I have taught at the University of Michigan, Cornell University, and the Wharton School, and currently teach Sustainability Reporting and International Financial Reporting Standards at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at Singapore Management University. Through my teaching and research, I aim to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world application, shaping both the next generation of accounting professionals and the broader conversation on corporate transparency.
In my free time, I enjoy running, wine tasting, listening to podcasts, and hanging out with my husband and two daughters.
