Brandon Courtney '12 has recently published a poem entitled "Cutting Toward the Body" in Conte: Journal of Narrative Writing.  His poem "Startle of the Sleeping World" has also been accepted for publication in Gargoyle, while another poem entitled "Secondary Recoil" was accepted in The MacGuffin.  The Smokelong Quarterly has recently published his flash fiction piece "Cotton Fever", along with an interview. His two poems "White Pepper" and "Virga in the Drought Years" have been accepted for publication by Softblow, and his poem entitled "Shamal" was recently published in elimae. He has also had two poems, "The Architect's Widow" and "The Arc of Field Stones" acccepted by Boxcar Poetry Review, another poem entitled "Five Card Charlie" accepted by The Los Angeles Reviewand another, "Stone Fruit" by Rabbit Catastrophe. His three poems, "My Sister's Blindness," "Argument Forms and Fallacies," and "Ekphrasis of St. Sebastian" were accepted for publication by Kill Author. Two poems, "Year Without Dusting" and "Malaria Tent, Pleiku, 1964" are forthcoming in The Raleigh Review. Tar River Poetry Review has accepted Brandon's poem, "Cayenne and Cinnamon," while Prick of the Spindle has taken another, "Shore Leave, Crete, 2002." Two Weeks: An Anthology of Contemporary Poetry, an e-book that can be purchased at Amazon.com or through Linebreak.org has published "On the Anniversary of a Drowning."  Brandon's poem "Field Nurse, 1862" was chosen by Kelly Davio as a poetry winner of the Borges Prose and Poetry Prize and will be published by Caper Literary Journal in their forthcoming anthology. Brandon also recently published a poem, "Cupped Hands: The First Boat" in The Los Angeles Review, and his poem "Record Cold, 1962" has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize by Linebreak magazine. His poem "Elegy for Milk" was accepted for publication by The Journal, Ohio State University's national literary magazine. "The Architect's Widow" was also chosen as a finalist for the Oboh Poetry Prize from Boxcar Poetry Review. Brandon's "Jesus Dreamt Only Once" and "The Failure of Medicine" were nominated for the "Best of the Net Anthology," by Sundress Publication/Ghost Ocean Magazine. Conte Online has nominated Brandon for another Pushcart Prize for his poem "Cutting Toward the Body." PANK magazine has accepted Brandon's poem "Electrocution, Kessler Farm, 1988" for publication. Pebble Lake Review has accepted two others, "Inheritance" and "Barrow," for publication, as well. Brandon's poem "EF3" has been accepted for publication in Sugar House Review. Brandon has just been invited to read at the 2012 Younger American Poetry Series in Des Moines, Iowa. His poem "Obsidian" has also been accepted for publication by The Fourth River, out of Chatham University.
