I chose this because I love this story at the first time I read it. I love the way the mysteries are put together and how Holmes solved it and... this story has too much awesomeness that makes me don't know what to say...
Hero
The hero of this story is, obviously, Sherlock Holmes.
Plot Summary
It begins with Dr. Watson's diary about his task in Afghanistan and he is forced to go back to England because suffers from shoulder injury and typhus. One of his friends, Stamford, introduces him to Sherlock Holmes, who surprisingly deduces that Watson is coming from Afghanistan at the first time they meet. Later, Watson discovers that Holmes' job is unique - he is the world's only consulting detective.
One day, Holmes gets telegraph from Scotland Yard that informs him there's a case that may be interesting for Holmes. Watson and he then go to the crime scene, Brixton Road. After checking, Holmes tells Inspector Lestrade and Gregson the spesific of the murderer.
Watson and Holmes leave Brixton Road to go to John Rache's house, the one who found the corpse first. With a help from a gold coin, Holmes manages to get some useful information about what happened at the night where the corpse was killed.
A later day, Inspector Gregson comes to Baker Street 221B where Holmes and Watson live and tells them that he had arrested the "murderer". He tells Holmes and Watson about his adventure, about how he can get the murderer. While he is in happy mood, Lestrade comes. He tells Gregson, Holmes, and Watson that Stangerson, the person Lestrade's looking for, is killed in his room. He brings all things that he found in Stangerson's room, include a small box contains two pills. Holmes tests the first pill on an old and sickly dog in Baker Street residence. The first pill makes no effect but the second one makes the dog immediately dies.
After that, a child suddenly comes to Holmes' room and says that the cab Holmes wants has arrived. Holmes asks him to call the cabby and when the cabby comes and bends for Holmes' trunk, Holmes handcuffs him and tells that the cabby is Jefferson Hope, the murderer of Drebber and Stangerson.
