How does this work?
I will start several threads in the class discussion area. You must post at least once in each of the three topics by June 15th.
For full points:
1 post in Departure
1 post in Initiation
1 post in Return
1 post about a Harry Potter character
What types of topics will there be?
I am changing up the Class Discussion topics this term. Since we never seem to get past the Departure stage for any one character, there will be three main discussion topics. You guessed it: Departure, Initiation, and Return.
You will still use characters in the Harry Potter universe - Harry Potter, Neville Longbottom, Severus Snape, etc. - for discussions. You can post about any part of the character's Hero Journey. Order does not matter.
I am willing to extend the discussion to Disney movies. I feel like most people have seen at least a couple of them. BUT, I don't want everyone posting that Genie was Aladdin's magical helper >.>
Other possible topics are threads related to the class project. If you would like to comment on someone else's project or discuss a different story, please tell me.
Can we suggest topics?
Yes! If you have a suggestion, please ask for approval before you post it.
Can we post in a topic more than once?
Of course! If you want to search for the Ultimate Boon for every character, go for it! Just remember to post in the two other topics by the end of term.
When will points be submitted?
Points for class discussion will be submitted at the end of term.
Is the Class Discussion mandatory?
No. You'll see from my assignments that there are plenty of other opportunities for points, but I'd like to see you try to join in a discussion!
***IMPORTANT***
Please keep in mind that these should be class discussions. Try to read the posts before yours and respond to one or more of them. If what you have written is close to a response posted before yours, I will ask you to edit it or add more. If the post is still unchanged at the end of term, I will delete it.
Now a warning for all you eager students. Please DO NOT post the entire Hero Journey of a character as the first post. This should be collaborative. Limit yourself to one or two stages, then wait for someone else to respond before you post again.
