Facilities and equipment

We perform X-ray diffraction experiments at two synchrotron (electron accelerator) facilities in California, the Advanced Light Source in Berkeley, and the Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource. We perform the experiments in the comfort of Hawaii by remote control of synchrotron robotics.

Our crystallization robot, an Art Robbins Gryphon, allows us to set up hundreds of potential protein crystallization conditions in minutes, with sample volumes as small as 50 nanoliters!

Our lab has multiple Linux workstations with Nvidia GPUs to accelerate calculations.  We also have access to the new UH supercomputing facilities with a Cray CS cluster.
